May favourites

May has just flown by. June tomorrow.....what? This month has been spent trying out various new products as well as adding things to my never-ending lust list. At the moment I'm branching out into trying new skincare as well as new hair products.

Look Beauty nail pop in vintage:
I recently reviewed this nail varnish here. I love the colour as it is the perfect minty green. It also has fabulous staying power.

Caudalie thirst quenching serum:
I received this in the natural Glossybox and I absolutely love it. I've been using it everyday under my moisturiser and your skin feels instantly hydrated. I'm definitely buying the full version.

My friend bought me this for Christmas and I've only just started to use it. It is perfect to throw in my make-up bag as its so small. It also beats having to carry a large bottle around.

Topshop 'Head over heels' cream blush:
I am in love with Topshop's make-up as you may already know. I spotted this blush in 'Vogue' magazine a while back and realised that I simply had to have it. It is a coral cream blush but blends to a powder finish.

Revlon Baby Pink lipstick:
This is a recent addition to my never-ending collection of lipsticks which I had wanted for a while. It is a gorgeous baby pink which is perfect for everyday wear.

What do you think of this months favourites?

Coconut & Sweet Almond intensive conditioner

If I'm perfectly honest, looking after my hair is probably low on my priorities. However, recently I have been trying to pay more attention to how I look after my hair. Intensive conditioners is one of the products that I have been looking into as my hair can be fairly dry and is damaged. I already had Soap & Glory's Hair Supply (which I love) and I recently acquired Superdrug's Coconut & Sweet Almond intensive conditioner for a whole 79p (which I think was on offer, although it's normally around £1.49).

Overall I really liked this product. I wouldn't say it's any better than my Soap & Glory one, nor will I say that it is worse. After being left on for 5 mins and washed off, my hair was left feeling like it had life in it again. I loved the size of the tub - 375ml is fairly large and will last me a while - and the coconut smell. A final thing I loved was the fact that it is not tested on animals and is also suitable for vegetarians.

Have you tried anything from Superdrug's own range? What intensive conditioners do you recommend?

I honestly need to stop posting about food so much. It's getting to the point that it's embarrassing! This week has been spent enjoying the sunshine (when I'm not confined to work that is), applying for jobs (can't believe I have a month to find somewhere - anyone want to hire me?), eating yummy food, watching Legally Blonde at the theatre, watching Youtube videos and playing with film cameras.

What have you been up to this week? Have you been making the most of the sunshine?

What I'm #4

001)The gorgeous weather at the moment. Who needs to go abroad for good weather?
002) Eric the Elephant sweets
003) Holey jumpers (intentional ones)
004) Darwin being super cute

001) Job hunting (not on my terms, I may add)
002) Being in work when its so nice
003) My messy self
004) The amount of people in Aberdeen wearing inappropriate clothes - either wearing shorts where I can see their bum cheeks or they're wrapped up in jumpers and jackets.

001)The Inbetweeners series 2
002)Legally Blonde at the theatre

001)Legally Blonde soundtrack (Broadway version)

Funniest moment:
001)Watching Ray Quinn run halfway across a road and keep running once he hit the pavement. He was standing beside the car we were in and we attracted his attention, then he started running and didn't stop for a while. We  still don't know if he smiled at us or gave us a dirty look.

Omigod...omigod you guys!!

These pics are from when they did a couple of dates in Liverpool last year

So Tuesday night I set out to watch 'Legally Blonde' at the theatre on it's UK national tour. I have seen 'Legally Blonde' before when it first opened in London a couple of years back, so I was looking forward to seeing it again. There was 5 of us that went to see it this time but before we went, we met up for some food.

We went to Bar 99 in Aberdeen which has a kind of shabby chic feel to it (maybe describing it wrong!). It was really quiet when we went. I ordered a burger (as pictured). It was absolutely yummy but filling!

Afterwards, we still had some time to kill, so we went to Baskins and Robbins:

Look at Maz's gorgeous dress in the background :)

Then it was time to head to the theatre for the show:

snapped before it began :)

The show was amazing (again!). It's the type of show that will have you laughing from the minute the curtain rises to the minute it closes again. It was interesting to see the differences in stage set-up between the London version and the tour version. Clearly they have to be able to transport the props around  the locations, so some set-ups weren't possible. Although I did think that some of the set-ups were a bit lacklustre if I'm honest. I was also amazed by the heels the girls were dancing in - at one point Paulette was dancing in the thinnest heels I have ever seen! I struggle with heels on a night out, never mind to dance on stage in.

I really enjoyed myself and I cannot recommend this show highly enough. If you do get a chance to catch on tour, then go. I can honestly say you will not be disappointed.

Before I forget this is what I wore (snapped earlier as I forgot to take one when I went):

Dress and blazer both Internacionale :)
Obviously it wasn't this creased either......

Have any of you seen Legally Blonde on stage? If so, did you enjoy it?

Glossybox May: First Impressions

Yesterday, after returning from work, I found this month's Glossybox waiting for me. This box was to celebrate Glossybox's 1st birthday. To be honest when I opened it, I initially was disappointed. However, once I had actually taken time to look at the products, it is actually a lovely box.

What was in it:
Noble Isle - Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel in Cornish Hedgerows
Lolita Lempicka - Eau de Parfum & Si Lolita
Apivita - Express Beauty Mask with honey
Osmo - Berber Oil Hair Treatment
Eldora - False lashes
Glossybox mirror
Glossybox balloon

My favourite item is probably either the Hair Oil treatment or the Mirror. My least favourite would be the eyelashes. I'm not someone who wears false lashes so I think that they are wasted on me at the moment. Everything else in the box are items which I will be looking forward to use.

Once I started looking through the products in the box, I decided that I did like the box. I thought the mirror and the balloon from Glossybox were a lovely, personal touch. This is something I like about Glossybox - everything is so personal.

Happy 1st Birthday Glossybox!!

Glossybox is £12.95 and available from

What did you think of May's Glossybox? What products did you receive?

What's in my make-up bag?

Powder Brush
Collection Lasting perfection concealer
Travalo with 'Just Pink'
Witch concealer
Elf eyeshadow duo
Natural Collection pressed powder
Highland Soap co. lip balm
Inika eyeliner in Cocoa
Revlon lipstick in Baby Pink

What do you keep in your make-up bag?

Beauty wishlist #1

Today is so grey compared to what it was over the weekend so to combat the greyness, I decided to compile a beauty wishlist. Nars Orgasm has been on my wishlist for quite a while whereas the Caudalie products and the sleek blush are fairly recent additions. The Clarisonic Mia is something I really want but I don't think I can part with the pennies....

Yet another week in pictures where all I seem to do is eat food. I promise one week I will instagram more exciting things than what has been going through my mouth. This week has been non-stop as in my free time I have been manically job-hunting. I can't seem to find anything suitable....I'm freaking out slightly even though I do have 6 weeks to find something. I've also been ill this week too which hasn't really helped matters. I feel much better now and today is probably the first day I've felt human again.

Yesterday's haul

After posting yesterday's blog I popped into town to pick up a few odds and ends:

'Just Pink' perfume - Next
Coconut & Sweet Almond Conditioner - 79p Superdrug
Coconut & Sweet Almond Intensive Conditioner - 79p Superdrug (yes really!)
Moustache ring - £4 River Island
Sleek Palette, Look Nail Varnish & Barry M blusher - 3 for 2 offer - Superdrug

Overall, I'm happy with what I bought. I'm looking forward to trying out the conditioners as I have used Superdrug's own brand before and I really liked it, so I'm hoping that these will be fine.

April Glossybox highs

I've already written a first impressions post on the April Glossybox which you can find here. The April Glossybox was, as you may know, a natural box of products complete with natural packaging. I initially really liked the entire box, however since trying the products my thoughts have changed.

Caudalie thirst quenching serum

Oh..em..gee. If there was ever a product which left me lusting over the full size, then it would be this one. I really love it! I wasn't initially swayed with this product, but once I tried it, I really loved it.

Inika brown eyeliner

I initially said that this was my favourite item to receive and it still is. The eyeliner glides on so smoothly and is easy to blend when needed. Considering I almost picked one up before I received this, I'm now glad I didn't as I really adore this one.

Figs and Rouge rambling rose lipbalm

This lip balm is amazing and has two things going for it. 1)It smells delicious like turkish delights (yum) and 2) It leaves your lips feeling super smooth. It also leaves them really shiny.

What did you think of April's Glossybox? What are your 'highs'?

Instagram #4

Sainsbury's equivalent to Percy Pigs/ Sister Act/ Alfie watching Attenborough (Smart choice there!)/
Smoked Mackerel and new potato salad/bowl of hot choc/ Smiley Alfie/
Doughballs/Parsnip chips/Dominos

I swear that everything I post on Instagram is food related. I'm honestly such a foodie! This week was spent eating out a lot, having Golden Retriever cuddles, seeing Sister Act at the theatre, getting excited about seeing Legally Blonde again soon (Omg, omg you guys!!), receiving devastating news, rekindling my love for yoghurt dipped raisins, watching season 1 of The Inbetweeners and organising things. Oh and also discovering that my dad has now started to play the 'lets move things around Amey's flat and see if she notices' game. This time it was a photo cube turned to a different picture and one of my portrait pictures turned on its side. I also realised that my parents puppy, Alfie, is a David Attenborough fan as he was mesmerised watching it (see photo).

How has your week been?

Also, randomly, anyone know of anything that I can ask my Dad from the US? He's currently in South Carolina and asked what I wanted. So far I have 'Jolly Rancher' sweets...

Review: The Highland Soap Company Vanilla lip balm

Lip balm is one of life's little essentials that gets carried everywhere. Admittedly I have acquired an assortment of various brands over a period of time. One of my most recent ones, that my friend gave me, was this Vanilla one by The Highland Soap Co.

The Highland Soap Co. is a Scottish brand which specialises in Natural products. It sells a variety of products which you can find here . All the products are organic, 100% cruelty free and suitable for vegetarians.

The lip balm is shea-butter based and flavoured with organic oils. Once applied, it is non-greasy, unlike some, and leaves your lips feeling amazing. You don't need to apply much either - a little goes a long way. Another good thing? It won't break the bank either as it retails at £2.99.

I'm eager to try out some more from this brand as their body scrubs and soaps look amazing too!

You can find Highland soaps here: .Also the lip balms are currently on special offer of 2 for £5.

Flying the flag for Britain...

Recently I was given the chance to style either an Olympic or Paralympic scarf from Next. As a huge Olympic fan, I couldn't wait to do it. There is something of the Olympics that I adore - I'm not sure if it's the variety of events over the period, watching the medal table or the stirring of childhood memories watching it. Whatever it is, I get extremely excited.

I received the small Paralympic scarf which retails at £5. All scarves come in 2 sizes - large or small. Large retails at £10 whilst the small size is £5. All profits will go to the British Olympic Association.

The Paralympic scarf:
The lion symbolises the courage, talent and determination of the GB athletes and the 60 hands along the bottom represent the sixty million supporters. I really love the lion design as I think it is a great symbol to represent the team as lions are naturally strong.

The Wrist wrap:

The first way I styled it was as a wrist wrap/bracelet. I thought that seeing as the scarf had the date and a slogan on it, you could use either to form the basis of the wrap. The first time, I experimented with the date and the 2nd time I used the slogan at the bottom.

The bag scarf:

My 2nd way of styling this scarf was simply tying it to my bag. It is a simple way of making a bag look more stylish and admittedly something I do not do enough of.

What do you think of these ways to style the scarf? Are you looking forward to supporting team GB in the Olympics? Did any of you get tickets (I did not :()

Instagram #3

I did have something else planned for today but it was too dark to take the final pics for it last night :(. I hopefully will get it up tomorrow and to be honest, I'm pretty nervous about it. Anyway, I hope that you enjoy my instagram post instead :).

Rekordelig/Pub food/Glittery nails/Bandage the quail chick/
getting organised/weird/Bandage again with splint/Animals of Farthing wood (yes it really was morbid)/
trying out new eyeliner/lunchtime read/next packaging/inside/
even more inside/Starfish ring/Blog mail/healthy basket

This week I have been eating out lots, help nurse a sick quail for an evening (Hi Bandage!), trying out new products, receiving pretty parcels and reading bizarre things. Also if you look at the Animals of Farthing wood picture, it shows mice on sticks - quite morbid for something I used to watch as a 6 year old. I knew I wasn't keen on it then but really for a kids program?

What I'm ...#2

001)Inika eyeliner from my Glossybox
002)Potato and egg salad
004)Mac Prep & Prime skin base visage
005)The fact I have not worn foundation in over a week - my skin feels happier :)
006) Instagrams from Press Days - Internacionale looks absolutely stunning for AW (and no I'm not saying that because I work there) - some lovely Lita replicas amongst other lovely items. River Island isn't far behind either. Sometimes I do wish I lived in London...

001)Changeable weather (today is a bitterly cold wind, rain and sunshine - nice!)
002)Being paid not as much as usual :(
003) The fact that it is so light now that all the high school neds and whatnot are out everywhere and being annoying.

001) The picture of Dorian Gray (Kindle)
002) Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

001) McFly (all albums apart from the latest one)

001)Extreme Couponing

Funniest moment this week

001) Getting asked by a male customer at work if I was married either that or watching two teenage girls in work attempt to walk in super high heels they had bought from Primark. They looked ridiculous.

April favourites

I'm going to be honest and say that this month was not particularly easy to choose favourites. I usually try and go for 5 products/items as I don't want it to be overkill for you guys to read but this month I struggled. Partly because I did a massive beauty haul at the beginning of the month but also because I was in the mood to switch things around a lot.

I adore my Kindle and this month I have been reading it heaps. I'm currently reading 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' which I am really enjoying. I still read traditional books as well as there's some that need to be read traditionally ie 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. What do you think of kindles?

Beauty UK eye palette:
As you may know,I am a huge fan of their nail varnishes so I was looking forward to trying this out. I only tend to use the neutral shades at the moment, but who knows I may venture out with the bright blue one day.

Collection Lasting perfection concealer:
Ah so I caved into buying the blogger's favourite concealer.I do really like it although I will never stray far from my Boiing either. The only thing I don't like is the fact the packaging rubs off as you can see which is not good when you need to repurchase!

Witch Concealer:
This is one of my most repurchased make-up items that I own. I never go a day without it on and I like that it contains Witch Hazel so I don't have to feel guilty about putting concealer on top of blemishes. Not one bit.

Revlon lip butter in 'Sugar Frosting':
Yet another blogger must-have. I also caved into the lip butter trend when they were released. I also own 'Candy Apple'which is a red (unusual for me, I know!) but I've not really had it on yet. I tend to use 'Sugar Frosting' most days as it sits in my handbag. It is a gorgeous, subtle pink which is perfect for everyday wear.

Mac Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage:
It will come as no surprise that this is in this month's favourites as I recently raved about it here . I still love it and it will probably be something that I continue to use in the future.

What do you think of this month's favourites? Have you tried any of these products?
