Life | 5 ways to chill out...

If there is something that I have learnt that I need to do more in 2017, then it is definitely to chill out more. I always seem to be in a hurry and my brain whizzes along at a million miles an hour while balancing a full-time job, a ridiculous amount  of gym classes (can be 13/14 a week if I have no plans) and posting 4 times a week (sometimes more) on here. I just don't know when to stop and when to say no. Needless to say when I do stop and relax, my body just doesn't know what to do with itself as it is completely run down.

Eats | Raw Millionaire Slices...



Millionaires Shortbread are one of my favourite treats to eat and I can quite easily eat my way through a number of them at once. Tasty they may be but they are definitely not the healthiest treats around.

These Raw Millionaire Slices are a take on the real thing - full of taste but definitely not as unhealthy! They are perfect for sharing...if you can keep them long enough that is!

Life | This Week #073...



001) First things first, what a 6 Nations game this weekend for Scotland! Once again (no surprise) I was at Murrayfield in the middle of all the action and if I thought that the game against Ireland was loud, well the game against Wales was even louder. Admittedly after the narrow defeat by France and the amount of injuries that we picked up against France, I was a bit sceptical about how we would perform with some key players missing. Amazingly, the team were strong, if not stronger and the 2nd half was absolutely thrilling to watch considering we were behind at half-time. Next up is England for the Calcutta Cup (Eeek!)

002) This week has been a good week - lots of positive things going on and perhaps some exciting things. We will have to wait and see what the future holds.

003) I think sometimes we need to step back and actually take some time to ourselves. This week I have been taking a little bit of time to step back from things and to do different things. I've painted my nails, had my hair done, finished off 4 (!) books and literally spent some time doing absolutely nothing (apart from perhaps binge-watching It's always sunny in Philadelphia)

004) On Thursday, I had a day off. Originally my plan was to head into town and pick up a few bits and bobs but as it turned out Doris had other ideas. I decided to stay inside, get some things done around the house and have an impromptu Yoga session which actually lasted much longer than I anticipated. I mean once you start playing with Yoga moves, who knows where you will end up?

005) At the moment, I am loving Instagram. I have been posting a bit more frequently this week and I'm really enjoying it. You can find me @ameyjaney

Life | This Week #072...

001) What a week! On Wednesday night I managed to lock myself at my flat on the way to the gym. It was one of those situations where as soon as the door clicks, you realise your keys are on the wrong side of the door. The only option I had was to phone a locksmith as one of my spare sets was with my set of keys and the other is with my parents. Idiot.

Beauty | 5 must-have Face Masks...


I'm not sure about you but I flipping love a good Face Mask. So much so that I have now amassed a huge collection and notably have some outstanding favourites among them.

So what are my 5 must-haves?


This mask is one of my newer ones but I already love it. It is designed to repair and restore damaged skin and contains oat kernels to moisturise, sooth and calm the skin.


The days where your skin has a mind of it's own and decides to break out are the absolute worst. Luckily this 'Out of Trouble Mask' from Origins is great at sorting it out. With ingredients such as  Sulfur, Camphor and Zinc Oxide, this mask will soon have your skin back to normal in no time.


This looks a little scary, right? Actually, it's not but the colour on application is certainly enough to scare the postman away! This one contains Bamboo Charcoal to draw out impurities,  White China Clay and Lecithin. Probably my favourite out of the lot.


This mask is a great 10 minute fix when your skin is feeling a bit dehydrated and is particularly great for all the recent cold weather that we have been experiencing. Ingredients include: Algae extracts for hydration and Apricot Kernal Oil to smooth and soften the skin.


This mask is the perfect fuss-free mask and I use it for those evenings when I am feeling particularly lazy. Simply apply to clean skin and then leave it overnight to do it's thing and wake up to plump, hydrated skin.

Life | This Week #071...

001) This week I've been thinking a lot about minimalism and how tired I am of having so much stuff in my flat. I think when you first start earning your own money, you want to buy everything as having your own money is a new concept. However, as you get older, buying lots of things for yourself loses the appeal.

002) I've started to watch Riverdale on Netflix and so far it has been brilliant - absolutely gripping viewing. There is currently one episode being released a week so if you fancy giving it a go, then it is easy to catch up with.

003) I have no idea what happened this week but I have really not been sticking to my macros - all I have been wanting is Marshmallows and Giant Crumpets (not together I might add). I'm going to start on a clean slate today (aside from the fact I am heading out for a meal later) and nail those macros. I am determined to stay on track this week. Stay on track = smash more goals.

004) I am SO ready for Spring. This cold weather is doing me absolutely no favours and to be honest, I would quite like to leave some of the layers at home. Even in the office it is absolutely freezing. Doesn't help with the snow that has been around...

005) This week I have felt I've had a pretty strong gym game. Some weeks are generally better than others but this week was one of the stronger ones where I felt like I was top of my game again, It was a nice feeling and one that I hope I will have more often.

Blogging | Top 5 Blogging Apps...


As I'm on the go 95% of the time, I end up doing a lot of my blog stuff on the go. For instance, I will (if I remember) post something to Facebook on my commute to work or I will pop up an insta link on my tea break. Therefore, having some good apps on my phone is essential for me to be able to do this.

So what are my top 5 blogging apps?

VSCO:

There are many photo-editing apps around - I'm pretty sure every one has their favourites. Mine in particular is VSCO. This app allows you to add filters, play with brightness, shadows, highlights etc. You can then automatically import it into Facebook, Instagram or any other Social Media channel.

Bloglovin:

This is pretty much self-explanatory. Usually, I read posts either through Social Media links or through Bloglovin so having this app on my phone makes it easy to read on the go without having to log in all the time.

IFTTT:

This app is a clever little thing and a bit of a time saver. You can create 'recipes' on it which means that if you post something to, say twitter, it can automatically post to Facebook or any other channel that you have.

Google Photos:

We all know the dreaded 'Storage Full' message that comes up on our phones particularly when we are trying to take photos at an event. It's just rubbish. However, Google have an app which will upload all of your photos to their drive (like iCloud) which means that you can free up plenty of space on your phone so you can snap away to your heart's content.

Hootsuite:

I'm not sure about you but being able to schedule tweets on the go is an absolute blessing. Usually I schedule tweets when I've finished writing the post but occasionally I'm too tired to do it. And this is when Hootsuite comes in. It is so simple to use and it is only a matter of writing, scheduling and posting.

Fitness | Sci-Mx Nutrition Protein Products...

Protein is essential for muscle repair and out of all the food groups you have, it is perhaps the most important. Personally, I eat a lot of protein on a daily basis. However, sometimes I do find, it can be difficult to grab some protein whilst on the go.

Recently, Sci-Mx sent me some of their new Pro 2 Go range to try out. These products  range from having between 15g to 22g Protein per product. They are also individually wrapped which makes them perfect for throwing into a bag on the way out the door.

The products that I was sent from their range were as follows:Choc Chip Protein Brownie; Double Chocolate Chip Cookie; Strawberry Cheesecake Oat Bake; Cookies & Cream Oat Bake; Chocolate Protein Milkshake; Strawberry & White Chocolate Chip Cookie and some Protein Coffee (not pictured as it was received separately).

Overall, I thought that the difference between the quality of these protein products and other competitors was huge. Sci-Mx Pro 2 Go products are extremely tasty and do not have the bland protein taste that others do. Honestly, I think  that under a blind taste test, it would be extremely difficult to tell Sci-Mx's Pro 2 Go range apart from products which are not Protein-based. The only product that I wasn't that keen on was the Strawberry Cheesecake Oat Bake which did surprise me as I generally love Strawberry Cheesecake.
