Life: This Week #043...

001) This week I have been obsessed with eating berries. I just cannot get enough of eating them and have been enjoying them either on their own or with some dark chocolate and some chocolate sauce. So good!

002) After weeks of watching, I am finally up-to-date with Pretty Little Liars - woohoo! If you have never seen it and you like Gossip Girl, you will absolutely love this! I have also watched both seasons of Degrassi: next class (each episode is 30 mins) which was also amazing. Right now, I have started to watch Gilmore Girls and I also still have a couple of seasons of Breaking Bad too. I clearly spend too much time watching Netflix...

003) This week has been a really good week fitness-wise. My shoulder seems to be behaving itself with the physio which is the best it has been in about a year. On Thursday in Body Pump, it felt good enough to be able to manage increases on several tracks....including a decent increase on shoulder track!

Beauty: Easy everyday make-up look...

Sometimes you have to just have to take time and delve into your make-up drawers for a little bit of a make-up mix-up.

As I was heading out for brunch one day with a friend, I decided to have a little play with some products before I left and this was the finished look:

Here are the products that I used:

NYX Mineral Finishing Powder
MAC Stereo Rose (limited edition)
Soap & Glory Archery
Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator
Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer

Beauty: July GlossyBox...

If there is one thing that Glossybox are particularly good at then it is definitely bringing new brands to my attention. This month Glossybox have gone along with products that will give you a sunkissed glow.

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_July_Glossybox_2016

Utan and tone Nourishing Night Creme:

I'm generally a pale girl and surprisingly I generally stay away from any fake tan products. However, this night creme from Utan has sparked some of my interest. I'm intrigued to try it out and hopefully solve my fear of being tangoed.

Hawaiian Tropic Island Berry Lip Gloss:

Hawaiian Tropic a brand we all know and love and admittedly in my case it is for Sun Tan Lotion. However, unbeknown to me, they also do lip glosses. This month Glossybox included in my box their Island Berry Lip Gloss. Moisturising with SPF protection, it is the ultimate summer product. On a side note, it also tastes pretty fine (I did find this out by complete accident)

Icona  Milano Emotion Allowed Mascara:

I have a lot of mascaras but surprisingly for someone who is always at the gym, I don't have any waterproof ones. Glossybox have included one this month by Icona Milano. This product claims to not only be smudge-proof but also to provide lashes with an intense colour which can be adjusted for either day or night. Only time will tell if this product faces up to it's claims in my gym...

Hairon De-tangle brush:

In recent years, these type of brushes have become a major must-have for every girl. I already own something pretty similar but not in this shape. This brush is designed so that it can fit in the palm of your hand so you can detangle your hair without causing too much damage. I have used this since I got it and I must say I think I'm in love,

Blank Canvas F20 Flat Brush:

Ask me what my favourite beauty item is and 100% without a doubt I would say make-up brushes. I just cannot get enough so needless to say, I was pretty pleased that Glossybox have included a brush this month. I've not actually used this one yet but I think it will be a great blush brush.

Have you tried any of these products before?

Monthly Favourites: July...

So July went past in a bit of a blur, did it not? Next month is my birthday month and I really don't want to be thinking about turning another year round the sun....

Here are my July Favourites:

Emite Diamond Heart Base Primer:

This was a product from a Glossybox and as I was looking for a new primer, I decided to break out this one. It is such a good primer as it applies so smoothly therefore making a great base for the rest of your make-up,

Edinburgh Gin Elderflower Liqueur:

I've actually realised that this was in my favourites last month too but I still cannot get enough of it. So much so, that I've just treated myself to a bottle of their raspberry liqueur. Yum, yum and even more yum!

Shop Dixi Star Earrings:

This month I have been all about dainty earrings and in particular this pair from Shop Dixi

H&M Striped Basic Shirt:

I am always on the hunt for new work clothes and  so recently I picked up this shirt from H&M. What I like about this shirt is that the material is thick enough that you don't need to wear anything else underneath and it was a bargain at £7.99.

Strawberries:

Oh my days, I have been going crazy for strawberries this month. I think last week I actually managed to get through 3 punnets myself...oops! Sometimes I have them on their own or a particular favourite is to have them with a warm Quest Brownie Bar with some MyProtein Chocolate sauce. Yum yum!

NYX Mineral Finishing Powder:

I purchased this at the beginning of the month when I was looking to try out NYX and since I purchased it, I have been using it everyday. It is such a great product so much so that I reviewed it pretty recently.

What have you been loving this month?

Beauty: NYX MIneral Finishing Powder...

NYX is one of the hottest new brands to hit the UK this year. Already highly popular in the US, NYX provides professional make-up at purse-friendly prices.

Having recently launched in Boots, I decided to head along to my local store to see what was on offer for myself and to try a few things out. Overwhelmed with the amount of choice, I decided to settle on an everyday staple and opted for the Mineral Finishing Powder.

The Mineral Finishing Powder is exactly as it sounds: a mineral based finishing powder. Ideal for use either on its own or over a base product. Personally, I use it over a few of my favourite base products: Bourjois City Radiance Foundation, Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer and L'oreal Paris Lumi Magique Concealer

Overall, I really liked this product as I felt that besides giving off a lovely finish, it also stayed put. In addition, during application, wastage is kept to a minimum and the size of the pot means that it will keep you going for quite a while.

NYX Mineral Finishing Powder is available at Boots for £8.00

Life: This Week #042...

001) Oh hello...first post in a week. You've probably noticed that there has been no new posts this week (completely unintentional I may add) as I decided to take a little time out. And to be honest, it has done me the world of good: I feel much more chilled and I have come away with heaps of new ideas.

002) Besides coming up with new ideas and such, I have also been planning something big for over here. I'm kind of excited but scared at the same time in case I screw it up, haha. Nothing is being revealed yet though!

003) This week I have also been blasting my way through Pretty Little Liars. At the moment, I am on season 7 episode 2, so I have almost caught up with the rest of the world.

004) Last weekend sooooo much was done on my flat. We got the cellar gutted, kitchen painted, skirting boards painted, bedroom gutted & wardrobe gutted. It feels really good to have got rid of a lot of stuff that was not being used. However, I still have some areas that need to be done though.

005) Today I sort of went sofa shopping...or to put it in better terms I fell in love with a sofa. So much so that I have been measuring up my living room to see if it would fit. And the best bit is.....it does!

Life: This Week #041...

Double Peanut Butter Magnum - hello!

001) I'm going to get straight to the point and admit that I did download Pokemon Go this week. The only reason is that I used to spend hours when I was younger playing Pokemon Red. As it is so glitchy, I've actually hardly used it so we will see if it remains or not.

002) This week I tried out a few more Les Mills releases - Sh'bam & Combat. Not too sure on Combat at the moment but Sh'bam is incredible this time round. I get a little confused though as a couple of the tracks have been in Body Pump so instead of dancing, I want to lift...

003) In addition to the above, I also tried out Fitness Yoga (I'm having a Yoga moment right now) which I thoroughly enjoyed. It's completely different to your usual Yoga class and not choreographed in any way unlike Balance. I must have been working hard though as I couldn't feel my legs for 2 days...

004) Today I spent the day clearing out the cellar which was full of other people's stuff from about 20 years ago - tins of food, traffic cones. Absolutely all sorts.Safe to say that I feel a little bit gross now - it's not all glamour being a blogger!

005) I'm on Snapchat - find me at ameyjaney

Eats: Smoothie Bowls...

When the weather is warm or I am looking for something refreshing for breakfast, I will often reach out to Smoothies. Why? They are not only nutritious but the opportunities are endless.

Recently I have taken to putting my smoothies into a bowl and then adding lots of toppings. My favourite toppings include lots of berries and some form of seeds. In this case it was Pumpkin seeds. Anything and everything can go in.

In this smoothie, I had the following:

1/3 bag Tesco Frozen Tropical Fruit Smoothie mix
1 banana
Coconut water (adjust accordingly to how thick you like your smoothie)

How do you like your smoothie?

Reads: Always the Bridesmaid...

If there is one thing that Lindsey Kelk can do, aside from entertaining me through social media (seriously go and give her a follow!), then it is to write a damn good book!

I have been a massive fan of Lindsey's ever since I read 'I heart Christmas' and so when I was looking for a new read for work, I picked up 'Always the Bridesmaid' from Amazon.

'Always the Bridesmaid' follows Maddie, who despite having a full-time job as an events assistant, also has to plan her best friend's wedding as well as console another one through a divorce. Never one to avoid drama, Maddie finds herself in all sorts of sticky situations which undoubtedly leaves the reader in stitches.

Without giving too much away, this book is true to Lindsey Kelk's style: a hilarious escapism which will put a smile on anyone's face. In fact, I gave this someone at work who had never read anything by Lindsey Kelk before and she absolutely loved it! Definitely worth a read.

Brand Love: MAC Cosmetics...

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_MAC_Cosmetics

Out of all the brands that I love, MAC Cosmetics is one that has never disappointed me. I have loved everything that I have tried...and I have tried a lot! My go-to lipsticks are MAC, the eyeshadow (Bare Study paintpot if you're curious) that I use on a daily basis is MAC and the finishing spray that I use religiously is MAC. It is no wonder that it is a brand that everyone flocks to when they first begin to be interested in make-up.

Life: This Week #040...

Some things I picked up earlier this week

001) Last week, I ended up going shopping with one of my friends and treated myself to some new basic pieces. Naturally it meant that I spent most of this week showcasing my new pieces.

002) Today was launch day for new Les Mills releases at my gym. As a massive fan of these classes, I was keen to try the new releases. As ever, the 3 I did earlier did not disappoint: Body Pump - tough but an amazing release; Body Balance - epic and Body Attack - lots of burpees for me to do (which I seem to like?)

003) Continuing with the fitness theme, I have signed up to try Fitness Yoga on Monday as my Zumba class isn't on (and I'm fussy with instructors). I'm pretty excited to try it as I'm trying to incorporate a bit more yoga/pilates into my life to balance out all the Body Pump/strength-based classed that I do.

004) Etsy. Do I need to say anymore?

005) This week coming I have a few days off of work and to be honest, I am excited! My plans consist of going to the gym through the day (already planning on more yoga classes) and blogging. I also have my parents and the dog up from Friday until Monday so I'll be doing some cleaning too.

Fashion: Wardrobe style...

One of the things that I have been putting off for a long time is clearing out my wardrobe. Truth be told, I would probably be able to get rid of about 90% of the pieces that are there. My usual suspects that I mainly wear fall into a work wardrobe, a gym wardrobe and a few casual pieces in between.

In addition to actually getting rid of stuff, I also need to reconsider the pieces that I own. I have a tendency to lean towards floral pieces particularly for work. Casual-wise, I stick to jeans and tees so not as much of a fashion blogger as I would like to be!

Eats: Buddha Bowl...

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Buddha_Bowl

I'm always looking for new, exciting healthy meal options particularly those that I can take to work. Searching Pinterest one night, I came across 'Buddha Bowls'. Intrigued,I decided I had to give them a go.

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Buddha_Bowl

'Buddha Bowls' are essentially bowls of goodness filled with all food groups. No food group excluded. They are brilliant if you're feeling like you need something nutritious and they are very filling. In addition, the options for these are limitless.

In this particular bowl, I had the following:

Spinach
Roasted Chickpeas with Paprika
Brown Rice
Chicken
Cajun Roasted Sweet Potato
Sweet Chilli Sauce

Have you tried 'Buddha Bowls'? Will you be giving them a go?

Life:This Week #039...

My new gym top from H&M

001) This week I've only gone and done something out of my comfort zone and signed up to the Banchory Beast Race in September. The Beast Race is a 10K obstacle race filled with mud, water and hilarity. It should be good fun as I'm doing it with some other bloggers. Let the training begin!

002) On Saturday I attended a Lululemon yoga class to accompany their pop-up shop which was here. As someone who does Body Balance and not straight yoga (Body Balance is a mixture of Yoga, Tai Chi & Pilates), I found some things a little tough but it was great to have the instructor correct my technique. Sore today though!

003) Baking is one of my favourite things to do but I only do it for other people (usually work colleagues). This week I decided to make a Lemon and Poppyseed loaf for the 1st time...and it was absolutely delicious! I took it into work and it went down a treat!

004) I'm still working my way through Pretty Little Liars - I've just started season 5 and it's pretty addictive. I just can't stop watching!
