The main purpose of my trip down to Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago was to go on a Gin Tour at the Edinburgh Gin Distillery.

Once we had eventually found the distillery (it's quite well hidden), we were taken through to learn all about the history of gin which included smelling some of the botanicals used in the making of the gin.

History absorbed, we were then introduced to where the magic happens: 'Caledonia' and 'Flora and then....it was tasting time!

We tried 5 different gins: one Navy Strength, a Seaside Limited Edition, Raspberry Liqueur, Elderflower Liqueur and Rhubarb & Ginger Liqueur. We also had a G&T made with their ordinary gin, Fever Tree tonic and an Orange garnish - delicious!

My favourite Gin was definitely the Elderflower Liqueur and as part of our tour, we were each given a mini bottle of our favourite gin. With a little deliberation between the 3 liqueurs, I opted for the Elderflower one.

Monthly Favourites: May...

May has been a bit of a busy month for me - I've just not stopped! Between work, socialising, events and even a couple of weekends away, it has been a little hectic. No wonder I have been posting much more often this month.

This month I have a mixture of favourites for you and for once there is no food in sight.

Foam Roller:

This has been my lifesaver this month - so many kinks have been ironed out with it. I have got into a little routine of using it as soon as I come home from the gym. Sometimes I have been having a quick roll in the morning before work too.

This book is gripping from the very beginning and a recommended read. I've not quite finished it yet but so far it has been such an enjoyable read which is why I have included it in this month's favourite.

This eye shadow is available as part of Benefit's World Famous Neutrals palette and also available as an individual pot. This month I have been using it either by itself or as a base for other eyeshadows. Either way, it looks fabulous!

Using toner is an essential part of my daily skincare routine. This toner by Lush is one of my favourites as it not only contains tea tree but it also is extremely refreshing.

What have you been loving this month?

Life: This Week #034...

001) This week I started to read the much-hyped 'Girl on the Train' by Paula Hawkins. And to be honest, it is as good as people say it is. It is absolutely gripping and I'm reading it much quicker than usual. Review coming soon.

002) Speaking of books, I also finished 'Always the Bridesmaid' by Lindsey Kelk. I absolutely adore Lindsey's books as they're typical chick lits and absolutely hilarious. I'll have a review of this book soon as I've given it to someone else to read.

003) As someone who preps food for the week, I am always looking for easy things to prep (as I'm lazy and don't have much time). One of my favourites things to prepare are sausages and this week I finally managed to get my hands on some Heck Foods Chicken Sausages which are pretty tasty.

Beauty: Make-up Mix #002...

It's that time again where I mix up my make-up...and so here is what I have been using:..

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Make_up_mix2

Soap & Glory One heck of a blot primer - £10.00
Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer - £10.00

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Make_up_Mix2

Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator - £11.00
Revlon Ultra Volume Mascara - £9.99

My base products are pretty much the same as last time (I am a creature of habit after all) apart from my foundation which I have switched to Bourjois City Radiance Foundation (Review coming soon). I have also added in Soap & Glory's Hocus Focus illuminator and I have been mixing this into my foundation for a little bit of extra glow.

Eye-wise I have completely changed course and gone for my Tartelette palette and also a new mascara by Revlon which was included in my Glossybox.

Blush-wise, I am currently going for the Au Natural look (aka lazy and didn't look through my blush drawer).

Life: A weekend in Edinburgh...

Edinburgh is one of those cities that it doesn't matter what the weather is like, it always looks pretty. Last weekend was no exception and so I headed down from Aberdeen for a weekend of girlie/photography fun with my friend.

We were pretty lucky with the weather - honestly I could not believe how lovely it was. I spent TWO DAYS without a jacket which is generally normally classed as a miracle in Scotland.

On Friday we spent most of the day travelling but we headed into the city for dinner. My friend had been recommended to try a place called Whiski on the Royal Mile.

Whiski is the cutest pub I have seen in a long while - the decor is amazing. It serves high-end pub grub and obviously has a large Whisky selection. I opted for the Steak & Ale Pie and I also had the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. Both dishes were amazing and I would highly recommend a visit there.

On Saturday, we had a gin tour booked with The Edinburgh Gin Distillery but as we had a little time to kill beforehand, we headed to the National Museum of Scotland.

The National Museum of Scotland is located a stone throw away from Greyfriars Bobby so after having a nosey around, we headed across the road for the obligatory Greyfriars Bobby photos.

Obligatory photos taken, we then headed down towards The Edinburgh Gin Distilery.

The Edinburgh Gin Distillery is located at the end of Princes Street and is quite well hidden. We actually couldn't find it....and then we realised that we were standing right in front of it. However, you will have to wait for a later post to see what we got up to there...

Sunday was our last day in Edinburgh so we headed along to Edinburgh Zoo and then along to IKEA afterwards where we met my parents.

Edinburgh Zoo not only has lots of animals, but also has beautiful views of the city nice you get past the steepness of the zoo.

Trend Report #005: The Long Blouse...

Shirts are a massive current trend on the High Street - from long to short; denim to cotton and checks to stripes, they are all there. Personally, I love wearing a longer shirt like the Sleeveless Voile shirt from Warehouse as I can team it with either black skinnies or leggings for work. I also love wearing checked shirts like the Long Flannel Shirt teamed with blue skinnies for a casual Saturday brunch vibe. Whatever way you wear your shirt, you are bound to find something on the High Street this season that you will love.

Eats: Giraffe...

I'm a foodie and I'm not afraid to admit it. One of my usual haunts for food in Aberdeen is Giraffe  in Union Square.

A couple of weeks ago, Giraffe invited myself and some of the other local bloggers to try out their new menu. As someone who is a firm fan, I was excited to try out the new menu.

Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Giraffe

The new menu still has some old favourites on it such as the Rodeo Chicken Burger but it also has some new additions like the 'Bowl for the Soul' which looked amazing (and definitely what I am ordering next time...)
Teacups_and_Buttondrops_Giraffe

After a lot of deliberating, I opted for the Harissa Burger as I was really in the mood for a burger that day. The Harissa Burger is a marinated chicken burger with a herb-y bun and it was amazing. I also accompanied it with a Mango Mule cocktail which is Mango Vodka, Apple & Lime served long and topped with Ginger Beer.

For dessert, it didn't take me too long to decide and so I went for the Salted Caramel Sundae. This had pretzels, salted caramel ice-cream and popcorn in it. And unsurprisingly, it tasted amazing!

Thank you Giraffe for allowing us to come and try your new menu - it was delicious!

Life: This Week #033....

001) This week I seem to have spent most of my time making friends with my foam roller before and after gym classes. To be honest, I think it is making such a difference to my body. I would highly recommend that you purchase one if you do a lot of sports/gym activities. Amazon seem to have some good ones.

002) As someone who is continuously busy, chores seem to slip by the wayside if, like last weekend and this weekend, I am away. On Wednesday, I decided to wake up at 5.30 am to see if I could get anything done before work. In the end, I got a mini yoga workout done - not what I was supposed to be doing. There's always next time, right?

003) Speaking of yoga, I am trying to incorporate it a bit more into my life. I already do Body Balamce twice a week which does help after Body Pump, but I feel like I need a little more to help out further.

004) This week I made banana bread for the first time in forever. I genuinely forgot how much I love it! Definitely not leaving it quite so long...

Fashion: Bon Accord Summer Style...

When I worked in fashion retail, I was always on top of new season styles. However, since leaving a few years ago, my knowledge on trends and such has gone out the window. It is no joke when I say I have a work wardrobe, gym wardrobe and a few other items in between. Absolutely shocking.

When an email popped through from Bon Accord Shopping Centre about an evening of Summer Style, I jumped at the chance. Who better to increase my knowledge on Summer trends than a Shopping Centre with some of the best-loved High Street brands?

The event itself allowed the brands to showcase some of the latest trends and new products. While some had pop-up stands, others treated us to a fashion show. In addition, Coach also presented us with a short presentation about their new season handbags and I may or may not have fallen in love with a couple...

Beauty-wise, we were treated to displays from Clarins, Liz Earle and No.7 to name a few. It was interesting seeing some of the new launches as I am very rarely in town so I'm not always aware of new releases (which is probably a good thing for my bank account).

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the event. I felt that I came away much more knowledgeable about trends and new launches as well as a wishlist longer than my arm. Thank you Bon Accord for arranging a fabulous event!

Bon Accord are holding a Summer Style event on Saturday 28th May. Head down for catwalk shows, beauty advice and much, much more1
