Under the microscope: Fitbit flex


                                         


As a frequent exerciser, fitness trackers are something that are of great interest to myself. After Christmas, I had a heck of lot of Boots Advantage Card points saved up and so I decided to treat myself to a FitBit Flex.

The Flex is one of the smallest in the current range of Fitbits available. I opted for the black version as I felt that it would be more inconspicuous than some of the other colours available.

                         


                        



So what is so great about the fitbit?

The fitbit, without sounding creepy, is a tracking device. It counts your daily steps, tracks calories and the distance you travel. It can also track your sleep pattern (which I find useful) as well as water consumption. Personally, I don't track calories as I do not want to become obsessed with calorie counting. As long as I eat a healthy diet, then that is good enough for me. I enjoy the sleep pattern mode as that is something that really does interest me. As you will see from the photos, I average about 6.5 hours sleep Monday - Friday (which isn't enough) and longer at the weekends. In addition, I also enjoy seeing how many steps I do in a gym class (not really a mode but I look at it before and after). Interestingly enough, for all you Les Mills fans, Body Attack racks up an incredible 5000+ steps in a single session (both 45 min class and 1 hour class).

Would I recommend it?

Wholeheartedly yes.

This week #002...


001) On Wednesday, I decided that it was time to treat my boobs to a little bra fitting. I headed to good old M&S (one store I can always trust for lingerie) and came out of my fitting with 2 different sizes: one for sports bras and one for everyday.

002) I also decided that this week was a good week to get my eyebrows done once again. I usually head to the Benefit Brow Bar in my local Boots to get them done as the girls always do such a good a job. They may seem a little more expensive than any other places, but I think they are definitely worth the extra money.

003) I started Dexter about 3 years ago and I've still not managed to finish the entire show. As I'm writing this, I'm currently on Season 8, episode 6 so almost there. It's a brilliant show - I have just taken so long to watch it all.

004) Do you know how expensive Passports are now? Mine conveniently expires the day after I need it so I sent off for a new one. I used the Post Office check and send service, which does cost more, but it is worth it (and I don't trust myself getting things right). I don't even want to think how old I'll be when I next need one...

005) On Friday, I decided that it was time to buy a sander and sand down the chest of drawers that has been sitting in my living room for the longest time. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong. It started well enough but then my entire flat looked like I had had an accident with green fairy dust. Thank goodness, I moved Mr. Fluffles into my room - the poor little boy would have been green!

006) This week has also seen a little gains in the fitness department. In Body Pump,I have managed to up both my squat track and lunge track weight and it means I am slowly working  my way to building a rainbow on my barbell. In addition, in Ultimate Abs, I have managed to hold a Crucifix plank on my toes as well as hold an extended plank for much longer. Gains all round!

007) A fitness negative this week is that I've managed to injure my right hip flexor which is not useful especially when I have a 5K (Color me rad) in 2 weeks time. The culprit for this injury is mountain climbers of all things - every time I do them, I get pain in my hip flexors. I spoke to one of the instructors about this and she said she couldn't see anything wrong with my technique as I was working right in front of her.

This week #001...

Chia Seed Pudding & Coffee

001) Working full-time and coming home from the gym late 6/7 days a week has meant that my chores having been piling up until the weekend. This week, I have been trying out a new method of assigning certain chores to each day. It has worked out pretty well so far and I'm definitely going to continue as it will mean that I have more time at the weekend to relax.

002) This week, I have also been making the effort to get up when my alarm goes off at 6am instead of pressing the snooze button. I must admit that I have enjoyed having the extra time in the morning to sit down, have a coffee and a proper breakfast. I'm quite excited going forward to find and try out new breakfast recipes that I will have time to make.

003) Reading books is something that I have always enjoyed doing but have never found the time. This week I have been popping books into my handbag and reading them on the bus on my commute. Surprisingly enough I have managed to finish a fair few this week: Girlboss, Sawbones and Seal Morning. Next on my list is to finish 'A Song for the Dying', 'Malala' and 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'.

004)I have been in my flat for almost 6 years...and it is no where near finished. One of my close friends has been in her flat for a much shorter time than I have and has done so much more and it looks incredible. Seeing how much she has achieved has given me the much needed kick up the bum to try and finish my flat so I can actually enjoy it. Step 1: clear the clutter...

005)My skin has been driving me mad the last few weeks and I'm not sure what is causing it to break-out so much. I am thinking that it is due to a number of  different factors but not being able to pinpoint it is driving me mad. If you can recommend a product which will help clear it up, then let me know in the comments or over on twitter (@ameyjaney).

006)I finally upgraded my Spotify to premium. Considering I use it 24/7, it's ridiculous that I have not done it previously.

My gym tight collection...

I don't know about you, but when I have a good gym outfit, both my workout and my mood improve tenfold. 
 
My favourite piece of kit is no doubt my trousers. I love wearing bright, patterned designs which you can find everywhere right now including the high street.I would  go as far to even say that I would prefer to buy a new pair of trousers for the gym than another item of clothing (hence the reason I probably have more gym kit than anything else right now).

If I could choose between a decent skin care routine or a make-up routine, I would hands down pick skincare every single time. Even in university after a night out, I would always do a proper skincare routine once I returned (regardless how drunk I was).
 
Amie Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturiser is a new product that has recently appeared on my radar. Being a moisturiser derived from plant extracts with rose extract, rose hip oil and mallow, it is something that is definitely up my street.
 
On reviewing this product, I felt that this product left my skin feeling nourished and extremely soft afterwards. In addition, it is also one of those products that a little goes a very long way (trust me it does!). It is also pretty purse-friendly.
