Lush Mint Julips

With this recent rubbish weather, my lips have been suffering to say the least. That is until I discovered Lush's Mint Julips lip scrub.

Lush Mint Julips

Lush Mint Julips

What the product claims to do:
"We wanted a mint choc chip tasting lip scrub - and we think we've done it here, with peppermint, vanilla and tagetes oil.
Clears dead skin and flakiness from lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth."

What I thought of the product:
I like this product. Yes, it is literally a pot of nice tasting sugar, but it does what it says and that is what is important. As described, it leaves my lips feeling smooth and moisturised with no effort required whatsoever. Overall,a great wee product.

Mint Julips lip scrub retails for £5.25/25g and is available from Lush stores or www.lush.co.uk

You know you're a blogger when....

001) You instagram pictures of your food so much that even your parents know better than to ask what you are doing.
002)You have replaced reading magazines with reading blogs.
003)You refrain from opening/wearing new items until they have been moved from your 'waiting to be photographed' pile.
004)You are active on every social media network around.
005)Your blusher collection may be nearing 30, but you must have the latest (insert name here) blush as it is popular among fellow bloggers.
006)You burn a candle while blogging.
007)You spend so much time in Starbucks that even the staff begin to know you.
008)You spend as much time catching up on Youtube subscriptions as you do watching television.
009)You have a box in your bedroom where you store empty products purely to use in a 'Products I've used up' post.
010)Your Boots card is used just as much as your bank card.

This was something I came up with for fun. If you have any more to add, feel free to let me know in the comments.

10 things this week #11

Just some of our sushi...

10 things:

001)I have never been much of a breakfast eater and it has always been a challenge to get me to eat a proper breakfast. However, this week I have managed to eat breakfast every day before work without fail. This week it was a yoghurt followed by a banana, next week I really want to try and eat some porridge.
002)Following on from the above, I have also been trying to eat really healthily this week as a lifestyle change not a short-term thing. It went really well but I should have realised that baking last weekend wasn't going to help matters.
003)Oz: the great & powerful is not that great a movie. I love The Wizard of Oz so I had high hopes for this one, but unfortunately it failed to amuse me.
004)The snow is just....aaaahhh! I woke up on Tuesday to a few inches of snow and a blizzard. Not cool.
005)I have been experimenting a little bit with bright lips this week in the safety of my flat and to be honest, I like it! I'm still a bit apprehensive about leaving the house with bright lips at the moment.
006)I really need to put some new music on my ipod. There are so many artists who I am loving at the moment but yet my ipod has not been updated for months. This is quite bad considering I use my ipod every day.
007)I watched a couple of episodes of 'The Wild House' which was my favourite children's tv program when I was growing up. Who remembers Wart (Arthur), Natalie, Serena and Jasper the dog?
008)I went to see Cats yesterday at the theatre. I really enjoyed it although the costumes were slightly disturbing.
009) Before Cats I also went to my favourite local independent sushi shop. Everything is made fresh in front of you and apart from smacking my head on the light twice, it was really lovely.
010)The Grand Prix is back for the 2013 season. I'm particularly looking forward to the British Grand Prix as this year I will be there in the sidelines watching all the action all weekend. I'm also camping for the first time in about 15 years....

Collective Haul - Superdrug,Boots and TK Maxx

I am a bit of a fail when it comes to leaving work. I have to walk through a shopping centre to go home and with that comes the temptation of shopping. There has been too many occasions to count when I have gone in for a 'look' and that look has turned into purchases. I seem to lose my common sense sometimes.

What I bought:

Miss Sporty Dr Balm, Boots, £1.99
Collection 2000 The Smokey Eye Palette, Boots, £4.19
Collection 2000 Extreme 24H Felt tip liner, Boots, (Free - part of a promotion, usually £2.99)
Collection 2000 Intense Colour Supersoft Kohl Pencils, Boots, £1.99

Love heart frame, TK Maxx, £9.99

Primark Haul

My Mum was up last weekend and she uttered those lethal words "Let's have a look in Primark." as where she lives there isn't one. A look in Primark is never goes to plan and it certainly didn't this time.

Here is the damage:

I also picked up a top as well but the day I was photographing items, I was wearing the top and I didn't feel like getting half-naked for a photograph.

Looking at all of these items, I did need the majority of what I picked up. The only thing that was unnecessary were the rings and the top.

Glossy Box March 2013

I think the delivery guy gave me quite a shock on Saturday turning up with this month's box. I wasn't expecting it until later on in the month. Anyway, this month's box turned up and this time the theme was 'City Chic'.

Glossy Box March 2013

What was in the box:
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
Nails Inc St James
Jelly Pong Pong Lip Blush
Tres Semme Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray
Juicy Couture Couture La La perfume sample

What I thought of the box:
As always I am honest with my opinion. I have to say that this box was not one of my favourites of late. There was nothing particularly 'wow' about this box and I think the hairspray was a bit of a random choice if I am honest. That being said, I am looking forward to trying out the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Generally I like the theme though. Living in a city myself, sometimes I do end up going out after work and I end up taking things with me to do the whole day to night thing. I think with this box there could have been a couple more 2-in-1 products like a product which you can use on your cheeks but also on your lips.

10 things this week #10

Happy Mother's Day!

Snow. On Mother's Day.Almost a couple of inches of the stuff. Oh joy! I don't really like snow to be honest as it not only restricts what I can wear, but it gets in the way of life. At least if I get snowed in (unlikely) then I have a massive batch of homemade cinnamon rolls as well as fruit slices to keep me going.

10 things:

001) I'm currently watching 'Evita' while I type this. I forgot how much I love this musical.
002)Cinnamon rolls are very messy to make. They taste good though.
003)Glasses are expensive. Look out for a debut in the near future.
004)I seem to have done something to my right arm. I am not too sure what though but on Friday I was in so much pain at work that I could hardly move it :(. I had to switch my mouse to my left side. It has since been bandaged up in a tubigrip.
005)Safe Haven is an amazing movie. Josh Duhamel....just yum! Fergie is one lucky lady.
006)I have written my debut post over on 'The Modern Girl's Guide' on Mother's Day gifts. If you click on the Fabulette page, you may also see several other bloggers that you recognise.
007)'Life of Pi' is such an amazing book,if not a little graphic in places. I don't recommend reading it at lunch time like I did if you are easily put off.
008)Topshop has some really lovely stuff in at the moment. I am half-tempted to buy this cat ipad shell because it is ridiculously cute.
009)I have rediscovered my Belle lipstick from 17.I forgot how lovely it is on.
010)My parents' dog, Alfie, is enjoying watching Crufts. He has always been fascinated by the television and when dogs are on, he gets soooo engrossed. He is a funny little character. One day when I am filming again, I will have to do the pet tag with him.

NARS dupe...

Ever since I jumped onto the NARS bandwagon, I have been obsessed with my blush in 'Orgasm'. Therefore as someone who is genuinely curious about High Street dupes, I had a look through my collection to see what came close to 'Orgasm'.

NARS Orgasm
NARS Orgasm

I am someone who is genuinely obsessed with blushers so it's safe to say I had a fair few to play with. This time I managed to stumble across not one, but two potential dupes for 'Orgasm'.

Sleek Rose Gold NARS dupe
Sleek Rose Gold NARS dupe

The first dupe is probably the most well known dupe for this blush. This is 'Rose Gold' by Sleek. Priced at £4.49, Rose Gold is a gorgeous colour with shimmer all the way through it. It looks amazing on the skin.

The next dupe is not a well known one. It  is 'Twinkle Pink' by ELF. 'Twinkle Pink', as the name suggests, does contain shimmer but unlike 'Rose Gold',the shimmer is not as strong. However, in regards to colour payoff, it comes pretty close to 'Orgasm'.

Event: Sara Hill Make-up

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the first NEBE event organised by Laura. This event was a make-up masterclass with Sara Hill. Sara is the owner/founder of The Make-Up Academy in Glasgow as well as a renowned celebrity make-up artist.

As well as drinking prosecco, eating cupcakes and chatting to other bloggers, we also had a make-up demonstration by Sara herself. This was a great opportunity to pick up some new tips as well as ask Sara about her career and what life is like working in the industry. Some of the things we were shown include: a smoky eye, creating perfect eyeliner flicks (I can never look at people's eyeliner in the same way now!) and how to create flawless skin.

I had so much fun attending this event that I am looking forward to the next one :).

The finished look :)

Check out these lovely ladies who were also there:

10 things this week #9

This week has been extremely busy. Lots of things to do work-wise as well as outside of work. Talk about leading a double life. All I can say is that I think that having my iPad has made things slightly easier. Thank you Mum & Dad!

10 things:

001)My kitchen sink is finally clear after I bought a plunger.
002)Agatha Christie's 'Mousetrap' is amazing on stage. It was extremely well done and much better than I originally thought. No surprise that it has been running for 60 years onstage then....although this is the first time it has been on tour.
003)Flight is an amazing movie. Denzel Washington is fantastic in it.
004)The Bodyguard is also a good movie. All together now...'And IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.......will always love youuu.....'
005)Primark is a bad idea...
006)Darwin (Hamster) will try anything for sunflower seeds even if you have already given him some.
007)Nice weather makes a difference to your day.
008)Using work breaks for being productive is amazing!
009)TK Maxx will always be one of those shops where you go in for a nosey and end up buying things.
010)This year is going too quickly.
