The Friday Five...

 Biffy Clyro:
I have been a massive fan of Biffy Clyro long before 'Puzzle' was released. Last night they played at the AECC, and boy, they were amazing live. I've seen them once before in the music hall and they were amazing then, but nothing compares to seeing them upon a massive stage, with yet an impressive set. I lost my voice by singing too much. Wow, just wow!

Here's a couple of videos for your viewing pleasure (from youtube):

Glee:
Oh my goodness....  I HAVE GLEE TICKETS!! I'm going to the Sunday one at the O2 with a friend, which will mean for us, a long weekend in London, woohoo!! Is anyone else going? *

Eyeko:
I received my order from them yesterday. I think I may have a slight addiction to ordering from them....Review coming soon :)

Soup:
Now the cold weather (Read: Snow in Aberdeen) is setting in, it's nice to have some soup to warm you up at lunchtime. I also think its time to break out my soup pot :)...

Online Shopping:
What better way to do your xmas shopping, but online. It beats the queues, the going-out-in-cold-weather and not to mention you get to shop whilst watching your favourite tv program with a mug of tea.

*Apologies for the slightly enthusiastic caps - I'm still slightly hyper about booking them :)

Stylish Blogger Award!

The lovely Zsara at love,Zsara has awarded Teacups and Buttondrops (and 6 other lovely bloggers) with a Stylish Blogger award!

The rules for this award:
> Must thank the person who gave you this award
> Tell 7 facts about yourself
> Pass it onto 7 lovely bloggers who you love and comment them so that they know that they have won :)

7 things:

1) I'm an only child
2) I have a fear of snakes, window cleaners (purely as my one randomly appears without mentioning it) and scaffolding
3) I used to have a cat called Gunpowder
4) I do photography in my spare time and have participated in a few exhibitions
5) I've met Gok Wan and got filmed for 'How to look good naked'. My friend and I were filmed in Covent Garden on the opinion of bellies. If you've seen the episode with the girl running away whilst he attempts to blow a raspberry on her belly - well that's embarrasingly me. They keep showing that episode as I think it's been on about 3/4 times. Also on the day it was due to be aired, they showed a clip of it on Gmtv....
6)  I have been in the same job since I was 17 (I'm now 23 and my job is in retail)
7) I used to horse-ride when I was younger and had affections for a Chesnut pony called Freddy.

Review: Tigi Superstar Blowdry Lotion

My hair is super fine and very straight (majority of the time!) so I'm always on the hunt for volumising products. After seeing this product on someone elses blog, I decided to give it a go. On first impressions, the bottle is a lot larger than I anticipated, which is good as it makes your £9.95 last longer :).  The consistency of the lotion is  decent and it applies really well. The only thing I don't like about it is it's fairly sticky (as I use my hands to apply). I usually apply it when wet and then blow-dry my hair upside down. Overall, I think there has been a slight difference to my hair, although it is hard to tell when using a product such as this.

Monday Summary

1) Cookie Monster - Apologies for the blurriness of Spud - but he's super cute :)
2) Stuffed Mushrooms - Simple to make: buy large flat mushrooms, pop in some Philadelphia (or similar) and some grated Cheese on top and pop in the oven at 200c for about 10-15 mins. Yum! I've been munching these for the majority of the week - a way to get my veg fix :). You could stuff it with anything you want really - if anyone has tested ideas - let me know :). They are also really cheap :).
3) You want WHAT for xmas? - hehee Spud again - such a proud mum :). I may pop a video up of him at some point.
4) The Little Mermaid - I watched this this evening. I'm such a Disney Geek. I would actually live in Disneyland if I could :). I forgot how much I loved this film as I've only seen it a couple of times on dvd since the video days. Even then I don't think I had it on video....

Also I now have Formspring....ask away :)

Edit: I just found a lost £10 in my purse - off to order some Eyeko products seeing as I'm £10 richer :)

(Late) Friday Five

Apologies for the late Friday Five - you can blame work and Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson :).

So here are this week's five:

Spud:
After taking him to the vets on monday and finding out that he has a tumour and having to face a tough decision of what to do, Spud has not only managed to lift my spirits by his crazy antics, but he has helped me to make my decision. He has not let the tumour bother him and has been up to his usual shenanigans - diving off my couch, attempting to fit through small gaps and realising the bum will not fit through, peanut snaffling and generally begging for treats. Oh and attempting to climb up my pyjama leg. He is such an entertaining hamster and I think for now, the decision is right. So thank-you Spud, even though you don't read (although you were pretty close to sending a BBM to my friend the other night).

Discovering bags you had forgotten about:

I have so many bags, that I forgot about this little gem which I bought 4/5 years ago in H&M. I call it my bottomless bag - it can hold a ridiculous amount. Actually, last night I had a cardi and a t-shirt thrown in as well as my other junk. Maybe I should do a bag post for that bag? What do you think?

 Image from google images

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 1:
I saw this last night at the cinema and oh my goodness, the guys have beefed up!! My friend has a slightly mild, actually it's not mild, obsession with Rupert Grint and got very excited when he first appeared onscreen. I won't say too much about the film as I know lots of you will want to go and see it. It's a definite must-see though :).

Xmas Songs:
At work, the Xmas songs have started playing, which can only mean its getting close to Xmas :). We're actually quite lucky at work, as on our music system, it's only every 3rd or 4th song which is Xmas. Before we had the system, we used to have to play Xmas cds all day and, as you can imagine, we grew pretty sick of them early on.

Return of Gregg's mini snowballs:
I absolutely adore snowballs and I noticed today on my lunch, that the mini ones are back. Woohoo!!

Forever 21

If you've been anywhere on the Bloggersphere in the last couple of months, you will probably have heard of Forever 21 launching in the UK (if not, where have you been?). Forever 21 is an American-based company that rivals the likes of H&M, New Look and Internacionale to name a few. Currently, there are only two stores - one in Birmingham and the other in Dublin. However, for those people (like me) who live nowhere near these two places, there is the online shop that we can pour over here

Having read some American blogs (Big City Dreams rings a bell) and spotting some really pretty stuff,  I decided to go and have a look at the website. Here are a few from my wishlist:

Untitled

Overall, the prices are pretty decent. Pretty much what I would expect for a company that is to rival the likes of H&M. The only thing that puts me off ordering is  the delivery of the items. I think, judging by the delivery info, that they use a courier, and more than likely DHL. I have a hate relationship with DHL at the moment, due to the ridiculous amount of time I had to wait for my MAC order (long story - basically I'm not using DHL again!). If only Forever 21 delivered another way, then I could make my wishlist a reality.....

If anyone does order from the website, and they don't use DHL, please let me know :)

The Friday Five...

 Image from google images

MAC Venomous Villains:
I finally received my MAC order due to DHL being completely naughty. It was only due to a kind neighbour that I actually got it. Anyway, I love them. I bought the Briar Rose Beauty Powder and the mirror (as I love cute mirrors and had been looking for a new one for a while).

Rihanna - Only Girl (In the world):
I'm loving this song this week. It helps that its on the music system at work so I can dance to it when no-ones watching....I work, honestly.

Starbucks Gingerbread Lattes:
They're back (along with the other xmas goodies) and are very slowly draining a small hole in my bank account. I really shouldn't have them at lunchtime at work and Starbucks shouldn't be directly opposite my work. Is there a rehab place for Starbucks addicts???

Image from weheartit.com

Thick socks:
They serve two purposes: to keep my feet warm and also to protect my feet from unbroken boots. I think they saved my feet (and boots feel comfier - double yay!). I bought Men's sports socks for this purpose from Primark (and also because I have large feet - sz 8) and they do the job really well. Anyone else buy men's clothing because it does the job better?

 Image from google images

Layering:
At this time of year I layer everything I own - socks over tights, tops underneath tops, you name it - its layered. I don't think with the winters we have been having in Scotland, it is possible to get by with basic clothing....I'm actually known to go out with a large bag and have everything in it (and almost the kitchen sink) which includes hat, gloves and scarf plus the usual suspects. If only I lived somewhere that was warmer.....

NB: Why, when I googled clothing layer images, did I get a picture of a poo explosion nappy on a baby? What is that to do with layers? Ewww gross.....apologies to anyone who's eating whilst reading this post.

Party dress picks....

Since the xmas season is almost upon us, I thought I would compile a selection of, what I think, are the best party dresses currently on the High Street .

Untitled

Items 1,2 & 3 - Miss Selfridge
Items 4,5 & 6 - New Look

Most of them are fairly simple, as I prefer to accessorise rather than have massive detail in the clothing. I'm an accessories girl at heart and I enjoy using one key piece and coming up with various styles by accessorising.  This may explain why I have so many bags, scarves and shoes....My dad doesn't see it that way...and even a friend was shocked to see how I much I had. Is anyone else an accessory girl?

This weekend I had the pleasure of going home to visit the parentals :). I hate going home on a Friday and coming back Sunday as it seems too short, so instead I opted to go for a long weekend.
